How Your DUI Case Can Benefit From Getting A Lawyer

There are millions of people who get stopped by a law enforcement officer and end up getting cited and even taken to jail for driving under the influence. According to the CDC, in the year of 2016, more than 1 million drivers were arrested for drunk driving or under the influence of narcotics. Sadly, there are about more than 10,497 people actually lost their lives in a car crash that was related to drunk driving. Law enforcement officers are trained to detect and decrease the amount of drunk drivers on the roads in order to keep the roads safe from accidents that can be fatal and life changing. However, some law enforcement officers are not always upholding their honorable job correctly. Many law enforcement officers are mistaken and are even willfully committing the wrong actions towards drivers they may suspect are drinking and driving. There have even been reports that some officers mistakenly take in drunk drivers illegally. Many innocent victims who have been taken to jail mistakenly feel that they don’t have any say-so because they are simply just trying to be a law abiding citizen. But, getting a DUI charge mistakenly can and will completely ruin your life.

According to the NHTSA, it is illegal to drive in with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher in all 50 states in the United States of America. However, that doesn’t mean that lower alcohol levels are as safe. At a BAC of .02, you could possibly experience some minor loss of judgement, over relaxation, slightly body warmth, and an altered mood. At a BAC of .05, could have experience some exaggerated behavior, loss of small-muscle control, impaired judgement, lowered alternedd and some release of inhibition. At a BAC of .08, your muscle coordination becomes very poor; such as your balance, speech, vision and reaction time and hearing. It can also become harder to detect danger, judgement, self-control, reasoning and your memory can also be impaired. Drinking and driving is never a good idea. However, as long as you are being aware of how much you had to drink and you are aware of how your body handles it, then you should be okay.

You always want to make sure that you are drinking responsibly and safely. When you are drinking responsibly, you allow yourself to reduce the chances and risks of getting involved in some sort of accident. If you have been wrongfully convicted of a DUI charge, then make sure that you get a lawyer. Sometimes, law enforcement officers are not always correct. They may also illegally and wrongfully pull you over with the assumption that you are over a BAC of .08 when in reality you were under. Consider consulting with a DUI lawyer to find out how you can fight your DUI charges. You can search online for the following terms: DUI lawyer Milwaukee WI
